the earth is flat

This image is a varied edition. The detail on the globe was pain-stakingly cut from flimsy old Life magazines. As terrible as the cutting process was, and trust me it was terrible, every tiny change in movement with the xacto knife made the paper want to shred, the worst part was adhering the collage pieces down. Spray adhesive + sticky fingers + impossibly tiny and intricate collage pieces = a big fat mess. But somehow, through many curses, prayers and pleads, I got it to work.

  1. How big is this?? Cutting thin ply can be a trial, I remember one of my school art projects deciding to cut stencils in flower petals, two weeks later my garden is ruined and I have a major rush to salvage the grade. Do you have a site which sells your prints as posters? I like 'in case of emergency smile' and have a space on wall to fill.

  2. I don't have a site to sell as of yet, but I'm working on setting up an etsy account. I have editions of "in case of emergency..." sitting on my dresser, all bundled up in butcher paper waiting for an owner. You can reach me at ktybutler@yahoo.com if you're interested :)

This print was a full sheet of pescia, sooo 22 x 30. I have the utmost respect for people cutting their own stencils, not fun at all!
